Helsinki, Finland – April 24, 2026:

BroadBit Batteries Oy, a leader in next-generation battery technologies, today announced that key claims in its patent application for the ProLion™ electrolyte have been allowed. This milestone secures additional intellectual property protection for the company’s innovative lithium-based electrolyte formulation designed to significantly enhance the performance, safety, and operating range of existing Li-ion batteries.

The allowed claims cover a wide range of electrolytes for electrochemical cells. ProLion™ electrolytes deliver transformative improvements to a wide range of commercial Li-ion batteries (including NMC, LFP, LCO, and LMFP chemistries), providing up to 400% longer cycle life, a 100% wider operating temperature range, 50% faster charging capability, and substantially enhanced safety and thermal stability. These advancements reduce the need for complex and costly thermal management systems while enabling higher performance in demanding applications such as electric vehicles, grid storage, and portable electronics.

“This patent allowance is a major validation of our ProLion™ technology and strengthens our position as we scale electrolyte production and enter commercial sales,” said Dr. David Brown, CEO of BroadBit Batteries. “By dramatically improving the safety, durability, and efficiency of today’s Li-ion batteries, ProLion™ serves as our evolutionary bridge to market while we commercialize our revolutionary Sodium-Salt batteries. It directly supports our strategy of supplying high-performance cell components to battery manufacturers today, generating revenue and accelerating the global transition to sustainable energy storage.”

BroadBit is currently constructing a pilot plant for electrolyte production and is actively engaging with battery and supercapacitor cell manufacturers. ProLion™ electrolyte is fully compatible with existing manufacturing processes and represents the company’s first commercial product family, with follow-on offerings including advanced cathodes and full Sodium-Salt cells.
